Football injuries are generally either acute or cumulative. Acute injuries are “traumatic” for example due to fall, impact or collision. Cumulative injuries are those in which repeated stress on a muscle, joint or connective tissue leads to a progressive deterioration of pain, pain and physical impairment. Knowing how and why football injuries occur is the first step, to prevent them. Today we will consider the most common injuries such as knees, ankles and rear thighs.
Knee injuries are among the most common in football, because the nature of the sport includes many quick actions such as short approaches, braking movements and quick direction change. These explosive, spontaneous movements load the knees and the bandsthey support, extremely rotatory. If the load exceeds the limit of a band, this can lead to a compression or a crack in the knee joint.
The most common knee injury affects the ACL (front cross band). It is the band that is the most part of the Stabilization of the knee to take over. When sudden movement change the belt can be loaded or overloaded – too fast acceleration or braking. Movements which are strong enough to tear the band can then lead to swelling and lack of stability. The best way to treat an ACL violation is to rest and hide the area. It is important that the crack is completely cured before you play again. A heavier or more complete crack can require surgery, months of rest and physical therapy for complete healing. A dipped ankle is also one of the most common injuries for male football players. There are different kinds of upsettings, but they are usually through a sudden stop or change of direction causing the ankle to turn, or when a player enters the ball with the foottip. A medial ankle upset can occur when the toes are turned outwards, while the foot is bent upwards.
In order to treat an ankle upset, we can RICE protocol follow: rest, ice, compression and elevation. It is good to note that the ankle, if it is not completely healed, tends to re-distortions, so the Return to the game after an ankle dive be carefully monitored. (Barca Innovation Hub, 2022)

Thighs are in football wide ranget. They relate to the three back muscles of the thigh and can range from a slight disintegration to a complete crack. Continuous running, sprinting and stopping movements in football can result in injuries to the thigh muscle.
Although muscle fiber cracks can be very painful, they rarely have to be operated. We can also RICE protocol (Ruhe, Ice, Compression and High Storage) follow to treat a thigh injury. Other aids for treatment are NSAIDs, crutches and physical therapy. However, the specialist knowledge of a sports physician or physiotherapists can be crucial for the successful rehabilitation of the thigh injury. (Barca Innovation Hub, 2022)
Although the treatment of injuries is very important, the Prevention attention and time to be devoted. For example, due to correct training and load control injuries are significantly reduced. Proper stretching and warming are also crucial. Other external factors to be considered are:
- Reduce injuries by properly maintaining the football field
- Reduce injuries due to wearing suitable shiny guards
